The inadvertent expat blogger behind AmberLineVault

Hi there, I’m Sophia
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in New York, United States.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and fresh expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But slowly, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built AmberLineVault
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — actionable guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Does (And Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when real changes occur
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored-review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophia
